Rumors about the third and final book of the Inheritance Trilogy debunked

Lots of rumors have been floating around the online Inheritance world as of late, and after talking with all of their sources, Shur’tugal is able to debunk a number of them!
First off, they’ve been hearing wide-spread talk that the third book in the trilogy will be titled “Glaedr”. People are basing this rumor on the fact that here’s a fold out poster of the golden dragon, Glaedr, in the back of the Eldest Limited Edition. This information is not true. The fold out poster featured in the back of the book was artwork done by John Jude Palencar for the Japanese copy of Eldest released last year. Their writing is larger than ours, thus requiring them to publish Eldest in two volumes instead of one – each volume with its own artwork. The title of Book 3 is not Glaedr, and no title has been released.
More talk than ever has been going around that Saphira will not talk in the movie. Their sources at Fox tell them that this is not the case – Saphira will talk in the movie, though Fox has not yet made the announcement on who they cast for the voice of Saphira. They expect an announcement soon. In addition (more information on this can be found in their exclusive interview with the producers of the Eragon video game, to release soon), the voice of Saphira in the video game is not the voice of Saphira in the movie.

I think the title of the third book will have something to do with Murtagh or Thorn because there is a picture of Thorn on the cover of the second book.

I have researched this topic religously. I am pretty certain that the title for the third book is most likely going to be Empire the cover will be of a green dragon facing to the right and because the author, in an interview says that the color of a riders magic matches the colors of its dragon’s scales, then logically it lends itself to the fact that Arya wil be the next rider being the only elf rider (she sent the egg away with a green burst of magic i believe) if it is not Arya i see the only other feasible riders to be the young elf that sparred with Eragon in training. Perhaps Roran becoming a rider though this doesn’t seem nearly as plausible. Another thing that you may take into consideration is that in the second book the prophecy says that he will become involved with someone of royalty. We assume that this means Arya, but instead what if it reffered to one of the ladies from Carhavall, we know that Carhavall is the home of King Palancars descendant thus royalty, now what if the royalty that Eragon is supposed to be involved in is Katrina. i thought maybe paolini would decide to give his readers a little twist and have eragon lose to the empire and flee alagaesia. But maybe not, i really can’t think of any other reason for him to leave though. My bets on arya becoming the next rider too. One thing i don’t get is that if Eragon can draw energy from his surroundings, why not use it to defeat the empire. I’m sure that the Blades of grass he cuts wuld grow back, and the life of an ant or two seems insignificant compared to the lives of the countless humans who suffer at the empires hands.

yeah me too about Murthagh, that was quite a shock, but this proove also that the “dark side” have powers we can’t imagine, as a quiker way to teach. I think by contraining and using ancient language…
I think also Eragon not able to draw energy from livings as it has been forbeeden by his master and Eragon also understands why: because they live, they are part of an entire thing that is life itself.
What I think is Eragon will be able to find the blade he needs and powers, mentionned in the first prophecy made in the first book.

The next rider is obviosly Roran as there are many hints and clues. Also leaving Alagasia might refer to leving the country, not the continent. Any place not i the empire is not not part of the country

hey the thing about murtagh being so powerful paolini gives us hints, the prophecy of the menoa tree, it says if ever you are need of power go to the vault of souls and speak your name, what if it were a vault of souls that we could see all the old people, eragon could gain all the powers of the old riders, like brom and vrael. just a thought and not a very clear one i know. but there it is and once again email me with any good arfuements ok at mosit21@gmail.com

yeah, I too thought of Roran as the next Rider but I don’t know… even if he changed much in eldest I think he must be even more powerful to become a Rider and a powerful one.(At least as powerful as Eragon). Arya is a good inch as she’s already powerful, she’s an elf too that would bring balance to the power of riders as Mike thinks.
And I also think that only the prophecy of the first book can give Eragon enough power and wisedom (and a blade) to vanquish the Empire.
Concerning Murtagh I first thought of “dark” methods to learn rider’s art but now I mention Eragon’s prophecy, Galbatorix could have bring Murtagh to the level he has by a similar prophetik way… A source of power, of life or something…

I think that Arya will be the next rider, and that with all of her knowledge of magic, and some of Oromis’ tutoring, She will surpass everyone. I think that Eragon will find a blade, tinted blue, like all of the riders’, either under the Menoa tree or Rhunon will make one for him. I think that he will also make one for Arya. I don’t think that Roran is the rider, because there isn’t really any proof that he will be, but Arya is an Elven princess.

I agree for every argument, the only thing: arya will not be the new rider because she is an elven princess but because she is an elf, she has power and she has wisdom and finally because the next dragon will hatch in her presence^^

I think the next book will be called Empire, and I really, REALLY hope that Arya will be the next Rider. In all probability, she seems the more likely candidate. I would give the reasons, but that would be like parroting the ones you’ve already posted back in your face ^^ They’re all really very good. As for and Eragon/Katrina relationship… I highly doubt it. Katrina is totally and completely commited to Roran, and vice versa. Katrina would never consider Eragon, and judging by his behaviour in Eldest, Eragon has eyes only for Arya.
I hope that Paolini has an Murtagh point of view in the next book, like he did with Roran and Nasuada.

Ok I once had the plesure of talking Pialini and from what I can gather yes the third book will start with an E but empire? I dont think so. He said he put hidden meaning in his books or something like that, Take ERAGON, replace the E with D and you get DRAGON. Now ELDEST eragon is not an only child and his famaly through his mom are dragon riders. So that makes me think that the next one would have some hidden meaning in it like thoughs two.

I am currently re-reading both books and have started noticing things that I happened to miss the first time. Nothing too important though. I would like to put out a few things just to see what people think. So here we go:
1) I think that the child that Eragon and Saphira blessed will have a part in Book 3. I know the child would only be about 1 year old but i still think that she will have something to do with the next book. Perhaps she has a connection with Eragon and Saphira? Just a thought.
2) I think that the title “Empire” is very probable for the last book. I was also thinking about something around the word “Elves”. I cannot come up with a 6 letter word that has anything to do with the word “Elf”. I think I have missed something again but why does everyone think that the book will be green? Just asking.
3) I am excited about the thought of Arya being the next Rider. i would like that very much. I think that that would be very cool. I also considered the fact that Roran becomes the next Rider. That doesnt seem very likely. I am not sure why but he just does not seem like that would work out. I would be very dissappointed if that turns out to be true. Paolini has told us that there has never been a dwarven Rider many times. Most dwarves dont like dragons either. What about the possibility of a dwarven Rider? The only dwarf I can think of that would be a good fit would be Orik. He has been a main character throughout the first 2 books. The fact that most dwarves dont like dragons could also turn out to be a good plot twist. I find this HIGHLY unlikely but I think it could be fun.
4) The prophecy that Angela gave Eragon has kept me thinking ever since I read it the first time I read it. I am itching to find out what the Vault of Souls is. I liked the suggestion above but that seems very unlikely. Does anyone else have any suggestions. I think that it could possibly be the way that Eragon kills Galbatorix. And why would Eragon have to leave Alagaesia? I think he makes an oath in the ancient language to someone and is forced to leave after killing Galbatorix. There’s a thought.
Well if someone could help jog my memory and possibly repost ASAP to my thoughts/comments I would seriously enjoy that.
P.S. – Has anyone played the video game? I am thinkg about buying it and would like to know if it is any good.

For the color of the third book, to answer your question, it is not that we think it will be green but it WILL be green, the author and the drawer said it, also in the first book it is said by Brom or Arya that Galbatorix had three eggs, one blue (Saphira), one red (Graeld), and one green.
The prophecy also gives me head aches, I just don’t see what it could be. I’ll reread the book soon, but from what I remember the Vault of Souls seemed to be has you said a way to kill Galbatorix. I think this Vault ,as its name suggests it, could be full of souls and Eragon would make a pact with a powerfull one and may be here’s the explanation of Eragon departure from Alagaesia… Perhaps this entity will ask him to leave in exchange of its power. I think the soul could be of Morzan…
But this goes very far and I don’t think this will be that complicated…. or even improbable….

If u read Harry Potter u will find the author ALWAYS tells lies so they can surprise u. So, keeping that in mind the book is unlikely to be green, although the author might do a bluff.

ok first off berowl, you were right about Saphira’s egg being blue, but you were wrong about Graeld, there IS no dragon in the Inheritance series named that, the red dragon’s name is Thorn.

Having Orik as a Rider would be a cool plot twist, but I have to say that judging by his behavior when having to ride Saphira in Eldest, it’s highly unlikely. I like Orik well enough, but like I said before, I’d prefer it be Arya.

I think that Roran will be the next rider because, almost every family member that Eragon has has been a dragon rider, or important. Like Morzan ( if he really is Eragons son.) and Murtagh, ( if he really is Eragons brother.) Roran also had all that strength to kill the most people in the secound book when their town was under attack.
He also killed the twins, he was named stronghammer from his village, which means he probley is strong, and he was so brave when they took Katrina, how he risked his life to save her. I also think that Eragons mother Selena has a very important part in book three, and Garrow probley had a pretty interesting life too.
I do not think that Arya will be the dragon rider because, she is a princes, and the fortune telling in the first book said that he will love a girl that is royal, not that he will love a dragon rider. Paolini also said on a fifferent site that the dragon rider is obvious. Well that is just what I think.

Well what makes me think Arya will be the next rider is : she’s an elf (before beeinng a princess), she’s already powerfull (well beyond Roran), and in the first book when she teleport Saphira’s egg to the Spine, the light of her magic is green, the same color of the next dragon…
I also made a mistake as it had been noticed, the red dragon (Murtagh’s) ’s name is Thorn, and Glaedr exists, it is the name of Oromis’s dragon (I just forgot the spelling).

And I have some kind of date release for the third book, in France the pocket version of Eragon came out with all Paolini’s books, “Eragon”, “Eldest” and “Third Book : release in 2008) in french of course. So we can expect the book for 2007’s christmas
but this is just speculation. 2008 was the only information.^^

Ok well i think that roran will become the leader of algaesia when galbotorix falls because he is a great leader, he was to all of Carvahall and so i think he will take Galbotorixes place and i think eragon will go off and become the leader of all the riders because i think suphira will “mate” with another dragon like galbatorix wants to do and then eragon will be the leader of that…

What about the dream in the first book. You know the one where to Taller than normal people walk on a ship and one is a woman. Also there were two dragons in the background. I think this points towards Ayra as the next rider as well as Pointing out that Eragon will leave with her. Plus his premonition about the war with Murtagrah was correct so maybe this will come true too.

In the prophecy, when it says that Eragon will leave Alagasia forever doesn’t necessarily mean he will physically leave the country. If the empire is overthrown, it could easily be renamed to symbolize a new beginning. So in that sense everyone would be leaving Alegasia. Just a thought. Pretty convinced Arya is the next rider and Saphira will find her mate with her dragon. I think Murtagh will choose to betray his oath and help eragon. His was all gun ho about defeating the empire and Galbatorix in the first book. His will will come through in the end, but he knows there will be a consequence, prob his life. He
might give his last strength to eragon to use against Galbatorix.

Waooou, everyone have some pretty ideals, especially about Roran becomming the leader of humans and Eragon the leader of riders. I absolutly agree with that.
Me: I though the dream was about two dragons, one blue and the other red… I mean, I think the color was specified and this would mean that Eragon and Murtagh would live and be friend again(which would be great ).
Vball: I absolutly agree with the idea of when Galbatorix dies all pledges made by Murtagh would vanish.
I also think that Saphira and the next green dragon forthcomming will mate to begin a new line.
Caden: Yeah!!^^ A dwarf on a dragon would be funny, but don’t think so, I mean adwarf using magic seams to me a cat taking a bath lol. As for how everyone think Arya will be the next rider I think they like me made the connection between her green magic when she teleports Saphira’s egg into the Spine in the first book and the color of the next dragon which will be green…
About the prophecy saying Eragon will leave Alagaesia forever, I think he will leave the continent called Alagaesia to live with elves who I remind you don’t come from Alagaesia but from an island known only by them. Or if it is not the elven island it could be the land where dragons first hatched.

And an idea nowone said: they could be going to vroenguarg and i think 1 of the guards that got killed in the beginning of book 1 was arya’ gf. (the guy that made the aryasfavoroitflower) and arya is scared eragon would die like the guy that she loved before…..

I think that arya is a very probable contender for the next dragon rider. but if the next dragon rider is supposed to be related to eragon and murtagh… what if it was their mom Selena. This is just a suggestion that no one put up yet so i thought i’d add it.

I think that Orik may be the next rider. Think about it, he is the only Dwarf to ever ride a Dragon (2nd book) and there has never been a Dwarf Rider. If he became a rider, it would bring more balance then if Arya became one.

i saw that too and was very dissapointed. As far as i know she doesn’t have feathers. about Orik becoming the next rider… this is very unlikely. If you remember after the war between the dragons and elves the spell was between just the elves and dragons. Eventually, humans were added and yes dwarves could be added but i really don’t think they want to be. They really don’t want any contact with the dragons at all.

well i think that there will be a new character that no one has heard of before, but will have a nice litlle background that fits the witches prohecy. presumable it will be a female and she would be the fondling of the king galbatorix he wouldnt know about her , becuase he killed her mother after he realized that she had a kid (dont you hate when that happens, but this will make the characters past all angsty)
but the girl survived and was adopted by a high servant or whatever, but this servant will have to be like the care taker of the last dragon egg, so our hopefull herione will eventually learn when she is around eragons age, who killed her mother bla blah blah….then wanting revenge she will steal the last dragon egg and run away. she tries to find eragon to help her. The reason why know one has heard of her yet is becuase gablatrox wants to keep it on the down low becuase that made him look incredible stupid. so

first of all morzan is not eragons son. eragon is morans son.
and the gold dragon isnt graeld its glaedr.
any way i think that both theories about the prophecie are plausable but i reckon that judging by eragons actions in the 2nd book it will be arya not some new character.
as for the new dragon rider i think that it will be arya simply because shes elven her magic is already green and it would balance out the riders to have one elven and one human rider.

I think that murtagh is more powerful than Eragon at the end of B2 because he has already been to the well of souls–check out the part of the book where Eragon tries to invade Murtagh’s mind and note the difference between what he finds and the barriers on Murtag’s mind in the earlier parts of the books…Eragon will receive help at the well of souls from Selena, his mother. Also, I think it unlikely that the next rider will be a human–already to many human riders. The next rider will not be Arya. It could be Venir, although I find this unlikely. Roran will become the leader of the Varden in the third book. The Urgals will populate the hadarac desert and under the Boer mountains becoming friends with the Dwarves. Also, Eragon will defeat Galbatorix by drawing power from the Menoa tree in the elf forest, killing the tree and the forest–this is why the elves will return to their homeland. Eragon will go as well because he will be with Arya, this is why she can’t be a rider–all of the riders can’t leave Alegaesia. Murtagh will come back to the light side, but he will die in the process…that’s all for now.

i think mavillah has it down, that thoery sounds a whole lot more pausable than my’n. and for Some reason i really dont like Arya, or the idea of her being a dragon rider. i dont know if its me and my litle fetish with things being unconvenctial, or the charcter being so well…..annoying to me, but i think it will be too predictable that ayra will be a dragon rider. the auther(dang it i cant spell) has shown before that he is willing to but some intersting twists in the story, like when he made murtagh an evil dragon rider. I never saw that coming. Also i always thought of murtagh being alot older than eragon, but in in the movie he looks younger than eragon. that confuses me. is it just my perception of the characters or has anyone else thought that murtagh was older than eragon……….hmmm i just realize that it really doesnt matter. oh well. ANYWAY what time is this thing going at? it said it was 2:13 AM but i wrote it at 4:13 Pm.

In Eragon’s dream about the two people about to sail off with the two dragons in the air, i think the guy crying in the distance is Murtagh and the two people about to leave are Eragon and Arya. It would kind of fit in with the whole leave forever and fall in love with royalty thing. Also I think that the two dragons are Saphira and Thorn because maybe Thorn didn’t really want to be all evil like Murtagh so he decided to leave him to be with Saphira.

yo I just read what you said and found a a couple things:
• just cuz her magic is green, that doesnt make Arya the new rider- Paolini himself said that no matter the color of your magic, it automatically changes to the color of your dragon.
• I also think that Roran is the new rider, think about it- all the new riders are Eragons relatives(Murtagh, Morzan, I think its too perfect for coincidence)besides, in an interview, Paolini says he gives plenty of clues as to the identity of the next rider(why else would Roran have his story being followed all of a sudden?- And its all chance he is a brutal and cunning fighter- yeah, right)
• Also, Angela doesnt say Eragon will be invloved with royalty, just that he will fall in love with royalty, and she could not see if it would end for good or ill
Except for my second point, all of this is just fact, not speculation

when eragon fought vanir, he couldnt win cuz he was HUMAN, but when he turned into that elf-human cross, he destroyed Vanir rather easily

I doubt it will be Roran, Paolini says he gives clues to who the rider will be in both the first and second book, and he is not in the first book alot, i do think that arya being the rider is a possibility but i am not sure, it can be a new character though.

The theory about Roran is interesting but how will he be a good rider in one book? or less? Eragon will certainly teach him but I can’t imagine it, there’s must be another way, or has someone said it before, the new rider may be a new character…

no duh itll be quadmassive, yes i said quadmassive, Eragon still has to kill the Razak and Gal. plus he said he would return to oromis after battle- I bet hell take Roran with him.
I read somewhere here that someone said Orik could be the next rider. Yeah, dont think so at all. I just hope you remember that Orik is Hrothgars heir to the dwarf throne. Plus dwarves werent included in the pact between elves and dragons, and later, humans.

Roran is definetly not a worthy canidite for the next rider. He knows nothing about magic, prob doesn’t even know about the dragon riders or that much about Gal. He would just as niave as Eragon first was and since this is the final book the new rider is going to have to be a powerful character to play a large role in the battle. Roran is also too preoccupied about Katrina and wouldn’t be very focused on learning to defear Gal. Arya is already powerful with magic and knows so much more about everything that is going on throught the country. The most efficient character that will bring more balance to the battle that lays ahead is Arya. Or perhaps it is a character that the books have only mentioned but not met yet. In any case, the odds that Roran is the next rider is very slim.

Yeah, I wondered if Eragon is really Gal’s son and that is why his mom pretented that he was stillborn or whatever she said and gave him to Garrow. Gal was the only one who knew about morzan’s and his wife’s relationship and child, and to keep that secret, he might have asked her to bear him a child, but she hid him and ran away. Just a thought and would be a plausible twist.

First of all Elva will not be the next rider she is to young, is barely in the first book, and is already needed by Nasuda.
Second of all there will not be a dwarf rider because if there was and dragons started dying off agian all three races would be affected drastically.
Also the blade Eragon finds under the Menoa tree is going to be Brom’s lost Blade/

I read on Shurtugal something like that, I mean about Morzan not being Eragon’s father. And I was quite convince, see:

“While two may share two,
And one of two is certainly one,
One might be two.”
While two sons (Eragon and Murtagh) “may” share the same two parents (Morzan and Selena),
And one parent of two parents, the Mother-Selena, is certainly the same one parent of both sons,
One parent, the Father, might be two Fathers (Brom and Morzan) each having one of the sons.
What in the world could this riddle be about if it doesn’t support the two-father theory?

Brom could possibly be eragon’s father. Obviously he chose to hide out in Carvahall where eragon was. But why not he take care of him instead of Garrow? Brom and Morzan are such different people fighting opposite sides of the battle, so why Selena would have been with both of them is a mystery. Though this would be the happy ending for eragon to find out that his father was a good dragon rider and not Morzan.

Ive been looking at this web site for the past couple of days and decided to comment.
I luv Eragon and Eldest. i have practicaly memorized the books and have noticed some things.
1) Arya will not i repate, WILL NOT be the next dragon rider. Any on who thinks she will be is on crack. Paolini wont do it because Eragon likes Arya, and she doesnt like him. If she is a dragon rider, that wuld tottaly be like weird man. Also she is a main character. Paolini will proably bring up someone totally new, or a very minor character from one of the previos books.
2) Wont the Varden have to steal the egg to get it to hatch for them? How do you think thats gonna happen? Itll probely hatch for Gal. Or it might not hatch!
3) I also think that Oromis and Glaedr are going to die. Out with the old and in with the knew!
4) i have also heard people say the new dragon will be green. How do we know this?
What about white or brown?
5) I also have a knew threoy. I propose that Angela is an old dragon rider. I mean she has those dragon knuckle bones, and she looks young but she said she is old. And Oromis mentioned that the night he fleed Illeria that a couple other riders went away with him! She probaly lost her dragon, which is why solobum hangs around

About darins comment Jeod might have a chance but like the dwarfs a very very slim chance. He was never truely near Saphira’s egg. In the first book while they tell Eragon what happened while taking the egg the were seperated and jeod thought that Brom was dead.
For some of these rummors like Galbartix being earagons father are a little unbelevable. So for some peoples sake try and keep it some what real.

another option for the next rider is Nasuada. She is young and she is the leader of the Varden so if the Varden steal the egg, then they will present it to Nasuada and who knows, it might hatch for her. Its Just a thought that no one has put on here.

I just discovered this little forum and I got really excited because I’ve been thinking a lot about the books and what not:
1) I have to vent about the frustrations with the whole Aray situation. You know that you want them to get together and all…but at the same time I start to think that everyone just can’t live happily ever after at the end of book 3. It is a book about war and magic and everything doesn’t end up perfect when you’re mixed up in a war and everything…i was afraid that arya would be too perfect. A thought had crossed my mind though…everyone was talking about the Vault of Souls holding souls of the past right? Well, I thought if he made some kind of pact with them to defeat Galbatorix…maybe those of the past will impart Eragon with a sort of age/wisdom and this could somehow create a way for Arya and Eragon to overcome the age/life experience barrier.
2) I love the idea of Arya being the next rider and the arguments are pretty strong so my vote goes to her…it somehow would just make sense.
3) I don’t think the next rider will be Nasuada…she has been this great leader for the Varden and I don’t feel like she could give up her duties to get the proper training that is necessary…
4) Jeod’s too old to become a rider now and dwarves would do well to stick to stones so my vote is still with Arya
5) Someone mentioned earlier the possibility of Eragon running off with the elves at the end, hence he would be leaving Alagaesia, but that is a little too Lord of the Rings-esque for me. I don’t think Paolini would end it like that

If you can find good souls from the past in the Vault of Souls, then there is no reason that there couldn’t be bad souls such as Durza could be there too and affect Eragon in a negative way.

I really doubt nasuada is going to be the next dragon rider, she is the leader of the varden, besides unless i missed something in the books to be a dragon rider you have to be able to use magic, and i have never seen her use magic in either one of the books, the Angela being an old dragon rider actually makes pretty good sense, i also think the same about roran being the next dragon rider.

I too agree with you all about the blessed child, the theory about Nasuada is good but I don’t think she’ll become the next rider. And as for the ability to use magic to become a dragon rider, I don’t recall having read Eragon able to use magic before he he became one of them. Perhaps he had a sense of magic which we can guess when he tracks the beast at the beginning of the book…

will be a massive change in nasuada’s charachter and varden might not support her.he also said that we have lots of clues about the new dragon rider
and we will not be shocked but a bit surprised. he(paolini)also said

I don’t think Arya and Eragon will ever be more than friends because there are hints that Arya was in love before she met Eragon: When she was ambushed by Durza and her fellows were killed she cried out for them, When Eragon asked about her fellow ambassadors she told about only one, and when Eragon was inside of Arya’s tree house looking around he saw a picture of Ayra’s father and a picture of another elf; I beleive the other elf was another ambassador and possibly Arya’s first mate.

I also watched the movie last night. Does anyone know if they will make a second one. I think it would be really hard because
1. They didnt talk a thing about Jeod.
2. The raz’ac die.
3. It doesnt show eragon with the scar on his back.
4. Hrothgar isnt in the movie

It would just be so hard to make a second one with all the info they left out of the first one. I just dont know how they are gonna do it

OMG! I was so dissapointed with the movie! I saw it last night and it was a total let down. they cut out so much! sure some had to be cut out but, it was a lot. i think they should have made it longer. i also agree with what Eragon13 has to say about the second movie… how are they going to make it!?! sry guys i get a little worked up sometimes. i think that if you didn’t read the book that the movie would be good. I really liked Saphira when she was little. i saw her and imediatly decided i wanted one. (a dragon that is.) Any one know a store with good prices for dragon eggs? : )

I’m dissapointed about Eragon’s scar…. Na dabout his transformation in the second book, I don’t know… but you surely have noticed like me that Arya doesn’t have any elvish ears.
So they must have an other idea to make him powerful at once because i read somewhere they were intending to make the 2nd movie if this one works. But I think an ending with the suffer of the scar would have been better than a departing ways with Arya, quite an happy ending

If Murtagh belived if what he was saying was true, then he could say it in the ancient tounge. And about the part concerning leaving alagaesia{ I cant spell} any thing west of the ebba and Az rani rivers is alagaesia. OK…I have decided who I think will be the next Rider (all the names are too confusing)!
I am routing for Arya, because she plays a big part in the story. Why not make her part bigger.
My second guess is Roran because all of a sudden, Paolini (thats not how you spell it is it?) is writting from his point of view.
Hopefully I can stick to my decision!

If I was Paolini, I would have held a vote where fans could say who they think should be the next Rider. I wouldn’t have nessisarilily (there is my bad spelling again, guess i’m not that good) gone with what they chose, but hey, im not him and i can make a decision anyways! ;P

Maybe in Gal’s rage if he loses another battle, he might accidentally break the dragon egg and there will be no new rider! LOL, jkjk.
I’m not rooting for Arya to be the new rider because she (Like others have said) Has WAY too much responsibility on her hands.
If I was rooting for anyone to be the new rider, I would have to say Roran because he plays a huge role in B2.
Another possibility is that Eragon will somehow draw strength from the Vault Of Souls?
That’s what I think but it’s highly unlikely he could draw power from dead people.
Anyway, I’m re-reading both books for clues, and I’ll post again if I notice anything suspicious, lol.

the poem is in the 2nd book, where Eragon goes to the elf ceremony in front of Menoa Tree, just before he receives his new powers.
And I think Arya is the most likely candidate to become the rider of the green dragon. First, there is the fact that she is an elf, and a strong and talented elf at that. From what we’ve seen of her skills both with magic and with the sword, she would require very little training to be useful in battle, merely enough time for the green dragon to become mature enough to fight well in battle, which would be as soon as the green dragon learned to breathe fire, around six months after hatching. Along with that, Arya is female, and not just that but Eragon’s love interest. If Saphira were to fall in love with and mate with the green dragon, that would change Arya’s feelings for Eragon and the two of them would fall in love, as well. Third, two of the most often mentioned facts about Arya are her eye and magic color: emerald green. While eye color certainly has nothing to do with becoming a dragon rider, all of the riders we’ve seen so far in the trilogy have possessed magic the color of his dragon. I don’t know why everyone is so hiped up on Arya being the new rider. She is already powerful enough without giving her a huge, fire-breathing, flying lizard. Paloni is smarter than that and would definatly think up a better plot twist than that. Roran would be a good choice in my mind. A dwarf rider would be a prospect with possiblities as well since there has never been one. How do we know that the new rider has even been introduced yet? Or that he will side with Eragon? He could just as easily side with Gallbitorix and thus force Eragon to become even more powerful. As for the prophecy issue, that sword maker guy could make a new sword underneath the Menoa tree. The Vault of Souls could be the power source that Eragon needs, and he will probly defeat Gallbitorix with the spell that Brom told Eragon as he died from the knife wound. Give it some thought and reply.

I just had a thought: Whatever happened to Brom’s old sword–the one he got when he was a Rider? Because if Eragon fids it then he would have a new weapon that matches Saphira, and Rhunon wouldn’t have to forge him one.
And a side note: I SERIOUSLY advise AGAINST seeing the Eragon movie. It made me cry, it was that bad. And by bad, I mean that it dind’t follow the book at all, ‘cept for Brom’s grave, and maybe a couple other things.

Well, I don’t want to speculate as to who the next rider will be, but have you guys ever thought this:
If the new rider was Arya, then why didnt the dragon-egg hatch for her while she was carrying it across Alageasia?
I know the dragon only hatches for its destened rider, but that could’ve easily been Arya. Saphira likes her deosnt she?
And I think Gal will try to capture Arya and bend her to his will.

Hey Eragon 29 im from South carolina and those authors sound pretty good if you like vampires you should check out Stephenie Meyers she writes about a vampire who falls in love with a human i know it sounds really mushy but its not its goig to be a series the first one is called Twilight and Shvang if the next rider was one of their offsprings then they would’ve had to have been in both books i mean its possible i just dont see who it could be

What about the scar, the transformation?
I had an ich the other day about the transformation. Brom at the beginning of the first book tells Eragon that some dragon riders get elvish morphology like ears, strenght…ect. What if the transformation in front of Menoa Tree was some kind of an acceleration of the development of his powers? and that made me think they will do the evolution of powers whatever because they can’t transfom him now as any elf of the movie has elvish caracteristics apart from strenght, whisdom and age.

It would’ve had to have been when Morzan was still alive because Selana fled with Eragon when Morzan was alive soo if Brom did make love to Selana then no wonder he killed MorzanI mean by the time he killed Morzan Selena was dead so he could’ve been avenging her death in some way and Eragon needed protecting in case Morzan found out so if Brom is Eragons father it kind of makes sense

Yeah that makes sense. But what I prefered from Eragon is his link with the first rider and also when he discovers the painting in the Dwarf town showing Eragon looking at the egg, an expression and attitude that reminded himself. Just loved this part…

To come back on the 3rd rider’s identity, it will make sense if it’s Arya, but I believe also that another member of Eragon’s familmy that is to say Morzan’s relative will become the next rider. Roran could be the one in that case. Who else? I wonder how Paolini could introduce a new character in half a book and make him/her dragon rider. The Blessed child may be? Do’t think so even if she’s quite linked to Eragon. And a woman dragon rider would bring balance to the thing I think. I mean, would be great. A man and a woman dragon rider, a female and male dragon, all linked to bring back a new generation of dragons and dragon riders, because as their mind is linked, I mean dragon riders and dragons, if dragons fall in love with each other, there’s a good chance to be the same for the dragon riders as well.

yeah, i think the next rider will be a girl, beacause it would be, like balanced. Oh, and berowl, you bring up a good point, the next rider cant be a new character cuz it would be impossible for the next rider to be introduced in 1/2 a book a become a rider. thanks for lettin me realiz that^^! Although, morzan might have some relitives that we dont know bout. Or somone might steal the egg, not for the varden, have it hatch for them, and then like, have it, along with it teacher, appear at the final battle and help eragon deafeat the empire! cuz like some of the old dragon riders survived and could like teach the new rider! Man, my imagination is like, freaked up right now.

I couldn’t read through all of the comments, (My eyes were starting to hurt) but did any of you go see the movie? I did. The 16th, my b-day, and I thought it was good. They left out a lot of stuff and added stuff not needed. I do not want to give anything away but, I will say this, They forgot Solembum, (I liked him) and they also added the part where Arya is not drugged and knocked out. They had her up and walking about with Eragon and Saphira. That’s all I’m saying. But did you guys like the movie (for those who saw it)?

I havn’t seen the movie. with reading all this stuff I am starting to wonder wether I am or not. In response to EragonEldestE*****, You have some good ideas. I just think that it would be way to predictable to make Arya the next rider. No offence to those who like the idea. Plus, if Paloni said that the rider will “suprise you yet not suprise you”, as I’ve read in other bulletins, then I think that pretty much rules her out. I was just guessing on the other stuff about the vault of souls and the menoa tree. Who knows what all that means. Anyway, run any other good ideas by me.

i agree with whoever said that the next rider should be female. It would be really unfair if all of the riders are male.

I saw the movie last week and i thought it was terrible!
Saphira has FEATHERS! She’s supposed to have `bat-like wings`.
They cut out about four or five characters and the whole incident with Joed.
Isidar Mithrim wasn’t in the movie at all and was that short person with the beard supposed to be Orik?
I thought Brom had white hair and Roran looked more like Eragon than Murtagh did.
The “Angela Prophesy” sounded different as well.
And Eragon was 17 instead of 15.
The whole movie nearly made me die from dissaspointment.
But I have to say, if I hadnt read the book before i saw the movie, i probably would’ve thought the movie was good. I would give the movie 1/2 star.
And I am also wondering, would authors visit discussion forum thingys like this one? I mean they could and they could just give away hints and stuff. But i dont think thats very likely anyway, I was just wondering. I have my suspisions…

The theory about Katrina is great. I mean as Eragon will be with her, if she becomes a rider he could teach her. And even if she was somekind of weak before, she could have change and gained power along with the raza’k tortures or something. She could be very powerfull, and they use some kind of magic, she could also have some by trying to resist them. I mean that could make sense. Great…
But again she’ll have to learn quickly.
And the idea about a character finding or steeling the last egg and just showing him/herself at the end for the last battle is quite improbable I think.

Earlier someone said Nasuada will change. That’s good for the plot as she is the leader of the varden (if this theory is right) but I wondered how. Yes there’s Murtagh, but can love make Nasuada change her mind this way? I mean she has been raised and educated in the good path since ever. That’s why I think there’s something else that will guide her to a different way, or even force her to change. This is also why Nasuada can’t be the next rider too, I think the next rider will be in Eragon’s side. May be Murtagh wil play with her feelings, like Morzan with Selena_ father and son alike. I think he will return to see Nasuada if he had noticed her feelings to convince her and to make her take decisions for the varden in order to not disturb the Empire, or even to help the Empire. Don’t know what to think about Nasuada. She was great in the 2nd book. But if this turn over happens it will make sense as at the beginning she had to prouve herself, then she had to lead the varden, and finally, she betrays it. Sounds great.
But what about Eragon’s loyalty to her?!
Also it would be great for Katrina to be the next rider so Eragon, roran and Katrina could fly above Alagaesia to travel, it will be easier. Eragon the movie comes out tomorow here, can’t wait!!!

Great theory shvang, I never thought about it. Berowl, Saphira said that she wasn’t bound by Eragon’s oath of fealty, so as an individual she could “kidnap” Eragon and Eragon couldn’t be blamed.
If Katrina becomes the new rider, Roran could fight alongside her on the emerald dragon. wouldn’t it be awesome?

I wonder if maybe an Urgal could be a dragon rider? I mean it doesn’t seem likely but it might happen. No, the Urgals weren’t friends with the Varden in the first book and Paolini said he gave hints to the next dragon rider in the first and second books. So that couldn’t happen. (maybe when there are more dragon riders they will include Urgals and dwarves in the creatures that can become dragon riders). Whadda ya think?

I think that it’s very likely that Arya will be the next Rider, with her green magic and all. But I also think that Roran could be the next rider, though I’d rather have Arya be it. I also want Arya and Eragon to build their relationship together, I think it might work out, but it might not work out. There are so many other things I want or don’t want to happen too. I really don’t want Eragon to die, but I do want him to fight a REALLY hard battle. Then I want Eragon to cure Elva (I’m pretty sure he will but just in case), and I sort of want him to leave Alagaesia, but with Arya. That’s pretty much what I want in the 3rd book and I hope it will be as good or better than the first two books!! ^^;

HI guys i think all of your ideas are valid….. to an extent atleast. i beleive the whole new rider being new char is highly unlikely, also the idea that it is broms sword under the tree VERY unlikely seeings as he beegged the lady whom made the swords 2 make him another 1…….. the only way i c around this is if he fiinds it broken and has 2 get her 2 mend it……..NO the better way around it would be that instead of broms sword there was…………………. sorry have 2 make u wait for it because i thought this was such a good idea (let me no if u agree) i think its the first riders (eragon) sword that way it will hold HUGE sentimental value for the elves and riders alike also has anyone noticed it never states what the first dr ’s dragons color was Just wondering well reply soon so i can c if u guys agree

also now i am no expert on the mater of this series but i do have experience within the novel writing world, limited as it is. now for the staement made by some of u about the startling similarities between eragon and STAR WARS i can say from my own writting that coming up with new ideas is hard and i comend the author on their unique story , yes i say unique the similarities are really only superficial character molds (make brom obi-wan, eragon luke, murtagh anakin, gal the emporer (maybe even a little darth vader i gues) oromis yuda and etc) however as with all writting the *new* ideas are the hardest i mean did anybody else truly appreciate the discription that the author gave magic?
once u have new ideas it is *easy* to elaborate uponn them.. for example all of u have come up with *plot* ideas that would still make an interesting novel with its twists and turns. However what i ask u all is that would u rather a novel that plays to ur expectations or would u rather that the author makes some statments to *misdirect* u so that when u read the 3rd book u come across scenarios that u hadn’t even conceived.
as an author (again not a very good 1) i beleive that is my biggest challange is creating plot twist that are unexpected but still plausable. I commend the author on his ability to do that and i am sure u will agree….. as i am sure u would not have read it and thought otherwise. i would NOT say that he has *stolen* ideas from gorge lucas but merely had valuses and atitudes that were formed upon them because he was brought up on them (star wars that is)
now i have some thought s to leave u with, twist of my own that i would *consider implementing* however i hope they are false so that i enjoy the read all the more
eragon should not die but in some way be left *drained* beyond recovery ( maybe saphira could die) so that he can not be *whole* again as no hero should ever truly be
the idea that he would *love* and noble woman and it being arya is probably right but it didn’t say it would end well or even that she would love him back so this part could already b forfilled ( i think someone has already stated this but i think its rather important)
arya is the likly choice for the next dr and NO DWARF WILL EVER be a DR so alll dwarf suggestions are imo completly and utterly wronbg but hey i guess its worth a try.
also there is as far as i acan tell no *proof* aragons mother is dead i mean we dont know for *sure*

Yea i think i remember reading somewhere to that the first dragon was white but i dont remember its name and like i said before i like Shvangs idea about Katrina to it makes sense and cool2morrow the whole Star Wars thing i totally agree except Murtaugh was Anakin but hes like Darth Vador and if there is a similiarity between the 2 which we know there is maybe Paolini will bring Murtaugh aka Darth Vador back to the good side and help Eragon that would be awesome cuz even though Murtaugh went bad hes still my fav character and i think it would be awesome if the original good people could end the war and be together you know Arya and Eragon(hopefully and Murtaugh and Nasuada (huge hope!!!)

Also if you go on Answers.com about all the book and characters in the Inheritance trilogy it tells you that Murtauh is the most controversial characters and he mite find his way again in the last book
Oh and about the movie something i noticed they had Arya practically flirting with Eragon and in the book didnt Eragon say that after seeing Arya he thought that elves mut not laugh or smile and also in the bok they made Murtaugh very serious you know always prepared and obviously troubled but in the movie they made him seem like a happy go lucky teenagerthat ticked me off a little

arya is saphiras egg carrier, it didnt have to hatch for her, besides saphiras says that she hatch for eragon because she knew that he was supposed to be her rider, so it didnt hatch for her cause maybe that wasnt the egg she was supposed to make hatch( if she is the next dragon rider)

Yeah, Arya carried Saphira’s egg for years. But even so, Saphira didn’t hatch for Arya because she was destined to hatch for Eragon. So the next dragon might indeed be for Arya. Has anyone thought about whether Arya might go bad, because I think that would make for an interesting twist in the story, but i don’t know how Paolini will accomplish it. Talk later,(tommorrow) bye

i oersonally think it would b slightly better if he didn’t and had to tragicaly fight the varden in an *epic battle where empire soldiers and varden + elves are fighting just outside the capital while the 2 good riders (eragon and ******) sneak into the castle and confront gal (u no 2 on 1) and once they defeat gal he takes over the new rider (his consciousness does) and eragon battles the new rider already in a weakend state he calls upon all the power he can muster (maybe from enemy soldies whateva) and obliterates them. murtagh is now free. Victory

Wow, that’s a lot of posts! And yes, I just finished reading all of them.
One thing I’m confused about – if we presume that it’ll be called “Empire”, does that mean that the Empire (and therefore Galbatorix) will prevail? I think that’s highly unlikely, but a thought nonetheless. I’m just drawing on the literal nature of titles (eg. LOTR’s Return of the King kind of gave away the ending…).
My predictions (in no particular order):
I really liked the theory that the Rock of Kuthien/Vault of Souls is located in Helgrind (see http://www.shurtugal.com/?id=trilogy/book3/theories). It makes perfect sense. However, I don’t think the third dragon egg is located there.
1) Nasuada will die in battle.
2) Murtagh will also die in battle, possibly after trying to save Nasuada’s life (perhaps he will die because he broke his oath).
3) Elva will die by saving someone. Not sure who.
4) Eragon will survive, but victory will come at a great cost. I think he’ll end up somewhat like Oromis, which might be why he’ll be forced to leave Alagaesia.
5) Roran will also survive, and after the victory of the Varden and the death of Nasuada, may become king of Alagaesia. Who knows, maybe Garrow is a decendant of King Palancar. Katrina will also survive, but I’m not sure if she’ll play a major part apart from being saved.
6) I’m convinced that Brom is Eragon’s father. It makes perfect sense. Brom lived conveniently in Carvahall, and he knew Selena “well enough to miss her when she was gone”. Also, I believe Morzan was responsible for Selena’s death, and this would have provided Brom the fuel to kill Morzan, the only task in which he fully succeeded in, according to Angela.
7) Hence, I think the weapon Eragon will find under the roots of the Menoa tree will be Brom’s lost sword, which is blue (Brom’s dragon was named Saphira)
9)As for the next dragon rider – the possibilities are endless!! Arya seems the most likely candidate, and she’d certainly be the most efficient new dragon rider, but to me this seems too obvious a choice. I don’t think Roran or Katrina will be, because of my other predictions for them =P. My money’s on Orik – there’s never been a dwarf dragon rider, and it would be the perfect opportunity to mend the relationship between dragons and dwarves. I’d also love to see an Urgal rider but I doubt that would ever, ever, ever happen. If not Orik, then possibly Vanir, but I don’t think he’s a significant enough character. I don’t think it’ll be Angela because this is a coming of age story, about the next generation, and Angela is of generations past. I also don’t think she’s a previous dragon rider – frankly she’s too strange.
I don’t know if the movie is a reflection of the trilogy’s ending, but I assume the next dragon rider will have had to be a character in Eragon the movie. This rules out Elva, Katrina, Angela (her character was desecrated!), and possibly Orik…but based on this theory, Roran would be the most likely character. However i’d be disappointed if this happened, because the new race of dragon riders would be so unbalanced.
And yes, I’ve noticed the quite significant LOTR similarities as well – especially the names and places! Ps. Someone was asking who Arya was similar to – the person (or elf, rather) you’re looking for is Arwen.

Hey if Eragon fell in love with Nasuada then that would be the ultimate betrayal to Murtaugh by them and yes i know he betrayed them but i think we all know that both of them hope he joins them againand that mite make Murtaugh all the more mad and stray farther down the pah of darkness and that could prove very bad for the Varden Even if the rider joins the Varden you just cant screw with a guy whos been hurt by love soo i dont see that happening of course i have been proved wrong before

ATTENTION, for those who haven’t seen the movie yet, this post might reveal you most of the film. Last night, I’ve seen Eragon with my friends and I think the movie is worth seeing it.
The Characters:
I liked Eragon very much, he’s young, always want to go ahead even if he’s not ready and he’s a good actor especially in the “I’m learning to be a dragon rider” scenes. Roran is great, he has a real complicity with Eragon and that’s good, but he leaves their house very quickly and for the reason Galbatorix’s armies are recruiting, which is absolutely not for the reason he loves and Katrina and want to work before he propose her. I liked Garrow and his simplicity, and I also liked his death, which is quite different from the book. I loved Galbatorix who is played wonderfully, I liked his seek for power and his madness. I liked Durza but only at the end of the movie when he fights Eragon, at the beginning of the movie he seems weak, useless, human… Brom is great. Razaks are good, their very different from the book as they are summoned in the film but it makes sense. Arya was a bit disappointment, I only liked her eyes… Ajihad is really good even for his small part, as is Murtagh. Nasuada, Orik (who is not even named or presented), and Angela are the worst. I LOVED SAPHIRA, as a baby she is really cute and lovely, as an adult she’s strong, majestic and beautiful.
The movie itself:
I liked the very beginning of the film when we see dragon riders and dragons fighting, it is just beautiful and really intense. I liked very much Eragon’s village and even Galbatorix men’s presence. It explains Roran departure which I didn’t quite like but it makes sense in the context so it’s ok. I LOVED ALL Saphira’s scenes. They must have put a lot of money in her… I liked her voice and telepathy with Eragon, I liked how she grows (by magic). I loved the flying scene where Eragon can’t grip on Saphira, even if his legs aren’t riped. But I really disliked some mistakes from Brom like “Call her” as he can’t know her gender. I quite liked Eragon and Brom scenes but I felt the absence of training and camp fire scenes. I was disappointed by Urgals who seem to be rude brutes and that’s all. I imagined them more organised, and more skilled. Durza at the beginning of the film seems to be a coward and at the king service, but in the book it’s quite the opposite, it’s Durza who convince Galbatorix to do things not the opposite. I didn’t like all Arya’s bodyguards. I didn’t like scenes where Murtagh follows Eragon. But I do liked Murtagh himself, he has a little part but he plays it well, especially when he talks about his father Morzan (he plays well too in “Troy”). I hated the absolute absence of real dwarfs, I hate Angela who has a little house in a little village who makes little prophecies with little dragon phalanges. I hated the absence of Solenmblum. I loved Eragon’s magic and the respect for all ancient language’s words. I did’nt like the way Arya is imprisoned, and how Eragon saves her. I liked very much Brom’s tomb made by Saphira and the scene where we see Brom dying of Saphira’s back. I loved all the fighting scene between Durza and Eragon, I really liked Durza’s sword too. I loved Durza saying: “You will taste the blood of your dragon!!!”. I really hated must of all costumes, the Varden’s, the false dwarfs’, the Urgals’, Angela’s and Arya’s bodyguards’.
In conclusion:
I liked the film very much in general, it’s great. The few stuff I disliked was balanced by excellent scenes and landscapes.
That is why I rate it: 3/5.

Eragon is still young and has much to learn. While Murtagh is focusing on war-like magic, swordmanship, and battle stratigie, Eragon is learning that stuff and history, peacefull magic, and other kinds of stuff, which is nessasary to be a full rider. Therefore Murtagh as an advantage in battle, but somehow I hope Eragon can win. I mean, that would totaly suck if eragon dies, or fles across the sea, or gets captured by Gal. i also hope that murtagh turns good, cuz it would equally if he dies.

Anyways back to the movie, I actually give it a 4/5. I REALLY liked Saphira, and Eragon. I didn’t like how Roran actually looked like he could be Eragon’s brother. My mom thought they were brothers! I hated the absence of the Twins and Solembum and Orik. I actually like those characters! And if they plan to make a second movie they have alot of thinking to do, right? Well, shoot, I have to go! EragonFan they’re already makin a second film and we’ve said before that we have no idea how they’re going to do it but the actors said in an interview that they’ve all signed contracts and are currently shooting in Morroco and i gave the movie 3 stars b/c i think they ruined Arya’s and Murtaughs parts b/c ion the books in made them out as serious characters and in the movie it had them to where they looked like happy go lucky teenagers they even had Arya flirting and that fact i just found ghastly but otherwise i thought it was amazing and i liked the people they chose to play the parts except for Angela they made her to out there i dont know she just didnt remind me at all of the Angewla in the book

i actually dont mind the girl who plays arya, it is pretty weird that she flirts with him so much, seeing she supposedly says she dosent like him, but at the same time is very cute:)

I CANNOT BELIVE THAT THEY DIDNT SHOW SOLEMUMB( DONT KNOW HOW TO WRITE HIS NAME), I REALLY LIKE THE CHARACTER, AND WHY DO THE RAZAC DIE IN THE FIRST MOVIE!!!! THAT DOSENT HAPPEN!!!WHAT IF THEY COME BACK IN THE THIRD BOOK, WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO DO MAKE THEM REAPPEAR FROM THE TOMB!!!!, but other than that i think the movie was good.

yeah, i was incredibly disappointed with the movie. even if i hadn’t read the book (i saw it with friends who hadn’t), the dialogue is stilted and fake, and everything moved too quickly with little explanation. plus the characters (apart from being desecrated! [eg. angela, arya]) weren’t believable enough. AND they completely misinterpreted the relationship between rider and dragon, making the rider out to be the superior party, even though the bond is purely equal. in short, i thought it was shite.
also, i made quite a long comment here a few days ago, about who i think the next rider will be…what happened to it?

yeah, Saphira really is great, she saves the movie. And I agree with what have been said before, the relationship between Eragon and Saphira isn’t quite defined. I also enjoyed the fact that DURZA DOES MAKE A SCAR TO ERAGON ON HIS BACK. It’s fast but I’ve seen it, some may have not noticed because there’s no scar burning scene. It reminds me that I disliked the last scene with Eragon, Murtagh and Saphira, after the Battle when Eragon asks Murtagh if Saphira is ok… well he just had to contact her…
For your theory about Eragon and Nasuada, it’s a good one but Paolini have quite already made the point that Eragon is in love with arya and not nasuada (who might love Murtagh) but this can happen, but I believe Nasuada will not be the next rider.

How can nasuada like Murtagh? I reread both books and didn’t get any hints of that. Or is it a Theory? And why don’t you believe Nasuada is the next rider? Like EragonFan says she is kind of royal. And that the author said the next rider is someone in both books. It probaly can’t be Arya, because if the dragons like eachother the riders would have to like the other rider. and viseversa. And Arya said she doesn’t want Eragon to like her because of their age difference. So she could or or couldn’t be the next rider. And is Saphira liked Thorn that would mean something not right between Eragon and Murtagh. And i also like the theory of Brom being Eragon’s dad. That would be cool if it were true. And I have a theory of my own….but I’d rather keep it to myself. Anyways I agree, kind of, with EragonFan…. Well, I have to go. See ya.

I believe you don’t mean the next rider has to be of noble blood, I explain, Eragon’s love (noble blood woman) and the next rider can be two different people. As For Nasuada and Murtagh, well she’s the only one with Eragon to visit him in the Varden (again in the movie what a poor cage they have build for him…). And as I said before IF is said IF Eragon falls in love with Nasuada this would mean that Paolini has to introduice their relation ship in the next book, knowing that Eragon will be with Roran saving Katrina, will be searching a new sword and fulfill the prophecy while Nasuada will be indoors in the Varden or worse, in Surda…
So I think it’s quite improbable. But I may be wrong (won’t be the first time).^^

Good for you Berowl and i still am not quite sure who i think is the next rider but i dont think its Nasuada or Arya they both like i have said before have too much on their plates already but i do think it will be a girl and i have also stated in a comment above that it would just kinda of ruin half of the second book if Eragon liked Nasauda and i also said that would make Murtaugh mad b/c even if he didnt seem to share his cares in the second book feelings that just dont go away and that could prevent Murtaugh even considering to come back not that he will but still i just once again dont see it happening

I think cool2morrow had some good suggestions for alterative tittles tho some were a litle weird i especially liked EMERGE as it is the new rider who emerges from this book also the varden will b attcking more thus emerging from hiding tho i think the tittle is probably empire i hope it is not lol
ALSO I HATED THE MOVIE as they desicrated so many parts of the book (dont get me started i have already sent hate mail.)

I agree with you of course, the new rider has to be one of the characters develloped in the 2nd book and we must that Roran is in top position in this case, and as a woman it will be Nasuada.
But I don’t know, I can’t imagine any of them riding a dragon. (well Roran yes but not Nasuada). I think Nasuada like Arya have too much responsabilities and nothing particular. I mean she (Nasuada) hasn’t any particular predisposition, she only rule greatly. But when I think about Katrina, I see strengh and resistance against her father and then the Razacs. But she’s not devellopped at all in the 2nd book, nor in the first one. But she has her importance as SHE helps Eragon get food and so keep Saphira’s egg, and in the second book, SHE is the reason Roran wants to move away from their village. She is a key caracter even if she’s quite absent.
As for the theory that only Eragon relatives become riders like Murtagh who seems to be now his half brother, I don’t quite believe in it even if this troubles me. In fact the only bloodline sure between Eragon and Murtagh is Selena. So how can we be sure she hasn’t any other children, and why Poalini would introduice them in the final book? It’s nonsense…

Katrina cant possibly be the next rider, she might be the reason why roran goes away, alot of other things, but other than that she basicly not that important, she is roran love interest but that is it. Eragon and Nasuada cannot possibly fall in love, because i do think Nasuada likes Murtagh, Eragon has made it really clear that he likes Arya, he says he would do anything to get her to like him:)

Earagon and Murtagh are FULL NOT HALF brothers. Selena was trying to protect Eragon from Morzan after she saw how Morzan had treated Murtagh. And I think the final rider could be either elven or human, as far as I care it could even be a dwarf or somebody that was never mentioned in the second book. It coyuld be an elf because so far we only have three humans (besides the cripple) but if an elf were to assist the Varden it would make Eragon look less important. Human … whatever … except than the elves would be disappointed. Roran? No i don’t really feel it.Arya? No, not feeling it. She’s powerful already without a dragon. But it would be so cute if Arya hooked up with Eragon and Saphira hooked up with Arya’s dragon. I’m not totally obsessed with this book like other people but this is my oppinion. And I just want everyone to know that I knew that Eragon and Murtagh were FULL brothers while reading the FIRST book. Christopher Paolini needs to work on his foreshadowing stuff. And about the movie. I never imagined Eragon blonde. Arya is supposed to havee raven colored hair. Instead they have some girl with a mixture of red and brown hair… what’s up with that? And why do they need Galbatorix they only ever mention him in both books. Murtagh looks evil on the poster… he’s not supposed to look evil … not until the second book.And Saphira… what happened to her? She’a supposed to have shiny, I said SHINY, blue scales. And what does she get, some grayish blue crappy color. I’m upset. But Galbatorix upsets me most, him being in the first movie gives me the whole bad guy from the power rangers kind of feeling.

i agree about the movie and i still think it s possible that Katrina could be the next rider is but hgfilasbd i do know that whoever it is was mentioned in both book b/c the Paolini said the rider was and that he even left clues in booth book leading up to who it would be he said it would surprise and yet not surprise us and thats all any of us know for sure about the new rider but its still fun to guessand one of us has to be rite seeing as how we’ve guessed just about everyone in both books

Saphira didnt hatch for Arya because she was destined to hatch for Eragon.
Anyway, the next Rider WILL be a girl. The three choices are: Arya, Nausuda, or Katrina.
And if Galbatorix is killed then Roran WILL be the new king.
As for Murtagh, we will have to wait for the third book to find out whats in store for him.

What makes you think that Roran will br the new king if Gal dies hes of no royal blood if Roran leads anything which i dont think he will it i think it would be the Varden and somrthing would have to happen to Nasuada first for that to happen and i really have no idea how he would become leader of the Empire
about everything else though i believe ur rite about the rider and Murtaugh and Saphira as an egg but i dont think it will be Arya or Nasuada for reasons ive mentioned countless times before soo im routing for Katrina

Katrina will not be the next dragon rider, she might of have fought back, so what, thats not the point, and paolini says that he left clues in both book, she has no role in the first book, besides being roran love interest!!
I doubt Nasuada will be the next dragon rider, so I think Arya will be, and it dosent matter that she is strong even without a dragon, because i am so very sure that the dragon riders who were elves had an advavtage to the ones who were human, if i am not mistaken the last eragon with the white dragon was an elf!!!!SO STOP SAYING SHE CANT BE THE DRAGON RIDER BECAUSE OF THAT!!!!

Really unlikely, but it’s a thought. It sounds to me like the kinda thing Paolini would do. The idea about Roran or katrina being the next DR are more likely though. However, I definately don’t think that Arya will be the DR, because everyone is expecting it.

I doubt it will be Orik b/c dwarves weren’t included in that pact or whatever it was that allowed you to be a dragon rider it was only btween elves and humans and i never said thatArya couldnt be the next rider b/c she was an elf i just dont see it happening b/cfirst shes old and dragons normally pick young riders, she is already strong, and everyones expecting it plus it mite bother with her and Eragon if they get together and she is of noble blood and she has to take over the throne if her mother dies and she has too mich on her hands but she could still in fact be the next rider i just dont see it happening

i dont know if you remember but even if Arya is the heir to the throne does necessarily mean that she has to become queen, in the secon book she says that she dosent have to become quee if she dosent want to, because the elves will not pick a queen that dosent want to be a queen, so what if she strong? the elf riders were much more stronger than her i can assure you!

ok sorry i havent been in the discussion as of late
i finished rereading Eldest and Eragon
so heres my 2 cents
1 – the title is most definately goin to be empire…i really cannot think of anything else
2 – about the royalty part, isnt nasuada royalty? i mean everyone is so focussed on Arya and thats probably what it is goin to turn out to be, but nasuada is royalty too….well kinda
3 – i think that eragon might die in the last book….seeing as he is never goin to return to alagaesia, couldnt that be interperted as him dying?
4 – roran wont be the rider and neither will orik….its down to venir, arya, and elva….she can grow and learn at an incredibly rapid pace, she taught herself, how to talk in a week, but maybe she could grow? she would be a very interesting rider seeing as she cant harm people but if eragon removes his curse then maybe…just a thought

1. Brom is Eragons father
2. The next dragon is going to be wild
3. Eragon and Arya end up getting together
4. Murtagh gets power from the vault of souls if u look at the end of eldest when Eragon touches murtaghs mind he says it felt strange like it possesed many conscienses or w/e but yeah thats how he and Galby get there power and they get more souls thats how galby gains more power
5. Orik becomes king of dwarves( if u dont believe me idc but its true) i have inside info

Lifaen replies”Once we were like you, bright, fleeting, and as empheral as the morning dew. Now our lives stretch endlessly through the dusty years. Aye, we are immortal, although we are still vulnerable to injuries to the flesh.”
So Elves ARE Immortal. Check it yourself.

i just saw eragon today overall it was pretty good but the one thing that dissapointed me was the dialougue and they sort of crammed events all together for instance eragon did not first use magic in terim but in the movie eragon is confrented by urgals right after a visit with angela wtf!!! he kills the urgals like the book said but it was prett weird
oh well overall it was a pretty good movie a give it a b also eragon shoots durza in the head in the movie not murtaugh they didnt even boher will the hadarac desert and finnaly eragon does not even have his meeting with oromis at the end the book p s orick is hardly even given a tap on the shoulder they dont even accknowledge the fact that hes a dwarf!!!!!!!
