Confirmation from Warner Bros : Quidditch scenes cut from OotP movie

The Sun reports tonight that Warner Bros has confirmed that no Quidditch matches will be included in next year’s film (July 13th 2007) adaptation of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, as there is simply too much else from the 890-page tome to try to fit into a two and a half hour movie.

The newspaper quotes a WB spokesman as saying, “It would be wonderful to include every single page of the book. But as with previous Harry Potter films, elements have had to be omitted.”

Well OK, they sacrificed Quidditch to let the rest free, now they just have to prove it was worth for the quality of the movie. Yet a question still remains : Why not make a film such as Lord of the Rings, that would last longer than just 2 hours and a half ?
