Alice in Wonderland by Tim Burton

August 7, 2008

After it was announced that Tim Burton would direct “Alice in Wonderland 3-D,” a take on the classic Lewis Carroll fairy tale, fans assumed that Johnny Depp would somehow have to be involved. Now, Entertainment Weekly is reporting that fans’ suspicions are absolutely true. But whether he will play the rumored Mad Hatter is still unknown.

18-year-old Australian actress Mia Wasikowska will play Alice.

Burton’s Wonderland is part of a new two-picture deal with Disney, one which will also find him bringing an expanded version of his 1984 short film, Frankenweenie, to theaters. Oh, and did we mention that both pictures will be shown in 3-D? Read on:

“Alice in Wonderland”…will combine performance-capture imagery, currently seen in “Beowulf,” with live-action footage. After “Alice,” Burton will helm and produce “Frankenweenie,” based on his 1984 short film about a pet dog brought back to life by his loyal owner. Pic will be shot in stop-motion animation and shown in digital 3D.

Sweeney Todd: A bloodiful film

January 29, 2008

I just saw the movie Sweeney Todd starring Johnny Depp directed by Tim Burton and this is my critic.

I believe there are three parts for this movie: “the return of the barber and the preparation of the vengeance” part, the “I kill all the guilty ones” part and the “I kill everyone ’cause in the end everyone is guilty” part.

The movie really starts cool, it takes time to put the set on and as soon as the vengeance begins we just are taken into a torrent of blood till the end. This movie is more a drama and a terrible one than a horror movie as I expected. Tim Burton really makes us laugh sometimes but the scene after we just grave.

Every picture in this movie, every take, every time it’s dark and beautiful, only the happy memories are yellow and the blood is red, so red you just know it’s fake but the context is so dramatic, you forget about it. The most beautiful picture is the very last one, so chaotic, so full of despair.

Actors are really incredible, they really sing well and they just act wonderfully. A master peace for our Tim Burton’s movie collection.

I rate it 4.5/5

Tim Burton’s new movie: “Sweeney Todd: the Demon Barber of Fleet Street”

November 29, 2007

First of all, I just love every single Tim Burton’s movies and I knew few month ago he was creating an other one. And now it’s here.

The release date is for 21st of Christmas of this year. A film the Sleepy Hollow ambiance, the Tim Burton and Johnny Depp duo offer us a new masterpiece.

Based on the 19th century legend of Sweeney Todd and the hit Broadway musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, this is a story of an ordinary man with a wonderful life, a wife and a daughter. But a judge (Alan Rickman) and an acolit (Timothy Spall) will condemn him to abuse his family. Many years later the very same man returns as know as Sweeney Todd (Johnny Depp) to have his vengeance helped by Mrs Lovett (Helena Bonham Carter) who makes the worsts pies in London, she just puts human flesh in it.

All actors are singing in this musical, and what a cast of actors! Can’t wait.

The official site is here.
